Martina McBride Celebrates ‘Everlasting’ Release Week with Today Show Performance, Country Weekly Cover + More!

April 7, 2014 — 1 Comment

On April 8th, Martina McBride will release ‘Everlasting’ (Vinyl Recordings) – a collection of iconic soul and pop songs that see the powerhouse singer “cooing…growling…and dazzling” (Country Weekly). Martina will also perform songs from the album – classics like Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” and Aretha Franklin’s “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man” – on Today, VH1, The Arsenio Hall Show, at a sold out “Intimate Evening” at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, and a public show at Hard Rock Café New York with full band, horns and backup singers.

The music on ‘Everlasting’ revives the spirit of the 1950s and 60s recording process, both in sound and substance. Recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, legendary producer Don Was (Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan) helped Martina reimagine treasured classics by artists such as Etta James, Sam Cooke and The Supremes. The result is a record stacked with powerful interpretations of timeless arrangements, propelled to new heights by Martina’s extraordinary voice and impeccable music styling.

While it’s not her first foray into covers territory – 2005′s “Timeless” was one of her best-selling discs – she says that she approached this set a little differently. “I was really faithful to the originals on ‘Timeless’ – maybe to a fault, looking back with some perspective. I had grown up with those songs and they were so sacred to me that I don’t know that I had the confidence to do my own thing with them. On this record, having grown as an artist, I felt that it was important not to recreate the song so faithfully that it was a karaoke record. I wanted to be reverent toward the original, but also have my own spin on it.”

“We tracked this record in a very organic way with a lot of vintage instruments. What you hear on the record was what we experienced. There’s not a lot of processing, filtering, or changing of the sound. It’s the way it went to tape live in the studio.”

‘Everlasting’ is streaming now on Billboard here.

Martina’s release week activities will include:
-Cover story interview with Country Weekly (on stands April 4)
-Academy of Country Music Awards (April 6, CBS)
-Performance on Today (April 8, NBC)
-Interview with Great American Country’s Suzanne Alexander (April 8, GAC)
-Public show at Hard Rock Café New York (April 8)
-Performance on Big Morning Buzz (April 9, VH1)
-An Intimate Evening with Martina McBride and Don Was at the Grammy Museum, Los Angeles (April 10, SOLD OUT)

To date, Martina has sold over 18 million albums, which have included twenty top 10 hits and six #1 smashes. She has earned more than 15 major music awards, including four wins for “Female Vocalist of the Year” from the Country Music Associations and three wins for “Top Female Vocalist” from the Academy of Country Music.

fotoMy name is Fabi, I’m from Brazil, Rio de Janeiro where I work as a tax lawyer.

There are many Martina songs that are my favorites, each one reminding me of a moment in my life.  Martina has a beautiful and powerful voice.   Also, I am impressed by Martina’s attitude and interaction with her fans.  Not to mention how much she participates in social causes to try to better the world. I am also a proud member of Team Martina. I have been able to meet so many amazing friends and created so many unforgettable memories. I had the privilege of meeting Martina at Vanderbilt in 2013. Since then I have been to many, many, many shows all over your country. Since September 2012 until recently in London, I have attended 24 shows, and I have been so blessed.  My three favorite concerts were Nashville in September 2012 at the Ryman and October 2013 at the Bluebird in Nashville. And most of all JOC in Williamsport, PA.  It had been 11 years since my brother passed away and we had not celebrated Christmas since then.  After 11 years, this concert reminded me of the best moments of our family together.

Martina inspires me to realize that no matter what language we speak, we can try and make a better world together. Never give up ! Thank you for all you have done for us!!
