What is a life worth?
We drove home in blizzard conditions after the Martina concert in Council Bluffs on Sunday. We made it as far as Sioux City. A guy I work with was telling me their friend was involved in a multiple car pile up on that same stretch of intersate the following morning. She was TOLD to come to work ( a hospital) She told them it was nearly impossible to see and it was still snowing. They told her to come anyway. She was driving through a white out, a semi truck pretty much ran over the top of her car. The family had to make a decision to disconnect her life support yesterday. Unfortunately she passed away. What is a life worth to some employers? Are they so insensitive to the fact of their safety? . She lived out of town. Why not call someone in that lived in town.. As I understand it,she left behind a husband and 5 children....how sad.....

I had an employer like that too...I used to drive thru blizzard conditions to get there and even if I was a minute late they would dock my pay 10 minutes....fortunately the place I work now is only concerned with us getting in our hours for the week, anyway we want.
That is a very unfortunate incident...I hope somebody learned a lesson from it....life is too precious to be wasted like that.

Peggy, that is just terrible. That interstate was terrible. My dad is in ill health and I wanted to get back for him..or I would have stayed down there that night. It truly was unbelieveable the amount of semi's and cars that were wrecked or in the ditches along the interstate..and some of those semi's were just barreling through. My heart goes out to her husband and children.
