Fall
Hey everybody,
I just wanted to take a minute and catch you up on my life. So much has been going on! And we are in for a busy fall!
First of all, LOVED playing the Opry last night. Saw some familiar faces in the audience! Thanks to everyone who came to the show. I know some of you drove/flew quite a distance and I really appreciate it. I love singing at the Ryman and I hadn't seen the band in a couple of weeks, so I really had a
great time.
The girls are back in school...and Ava started Kindergarden, which they call Pre-first at her school. They are all loving it! Ava went from 8-11 the first week, 8-noon last week and now she will start going all day. She's been really tired, especially in the mornings, but she's starting to adjust. She loves her teacher and is enjoying making new friends. She let me know that 4 of her friends were boys! She said, "they are boys and they are friends, so I can call them my boyfriends!". I think we're in trouble! :)
Delaney started a club in her school for Love Is Respect. It teaches girls about self-esteem and the challenges of teen dating. They talk about signs of abuse and what defines a healthy relationship. I am so proud of her. Most of the clubs are started/ran by Juniors or Seniors and it's very unusual for a Sophomore to start a club. She had to go in front of the faculty at the end of last year and talk about it and get it approved. I think she'll do a
great job with it.
Emma is in 7th grade and is playing volleyball and hanging out with her friends. She is really happy with all her teachers and classes this year and I think it will be a great year for her.
John engineered and mixed the new solo album by Dave Stewart (from the Eurythmics). It is SO great and you should hear it when it comes out. I don't have a release date for it yet, but I"ll keep you posted. I sang a duet with Dave on it and it came out great. It's called "All Messed Up On Love". Dave recorded at Blackbird and recorded 15 songs in 5 days (quite a different pace from the way we make country albums! ). Then they mixed 13 songs in 5 days! John loved it and it sounds so great!
I have been writing a lot for the new album and looking for songs. It's really exciting and I will keep you guys posted.
We are going out to LA to do the Stand Up 2 Cancer show. It is telecast simultaneously on ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and many other networks. It's LIVE so write it on your calendar...September 10!
Guess that's it for now. I will check back in soon!
Take care,
Martina

I always love when you post blogs! Thanks for keeping us updated!!! Time flies. I cannot believe Ava is in kindergarten!!! It's cute that she has "boy" friends!!!
Delaney was so very smart to start a club at her school for dating violence!!! My sister was in an abusive relationship for 7 years and it was very hard to convince her to leave him, but she has and she is doing well. It is important that this issue is brought to the forefront and I am glad that Delaney (and you) are doing something about it.
Can't believe Emma is in 7th grade. One more year and she will be out of middle school (I wonder if that is how it works there in Nashville?)
Thank you for keeping us posted!!! I tweeted you to see if you wrote another blog--I am sure you saw my tweet somewhere!
THANK YOU for all you do for us! We love you!
