The Legacy of Alexa
This weekend was our PPOCA convention-Professional Photographers of Canada-Atlantic. It was great lots of fun. But what I can't get out of my mind was this story told to us by Craig Minielly, a Vancouver Photographer. He did a seminar on his business. He showed us this slideshow of this family portrait session he had done of a grandmother, grandfather, mother, father and their little boy and little girl named Alexa. At the end he told us that like a week or so after this session the little girl Alexa was walking with her Aunt and Alexa was struck and killed by a drunk driver. He told us that the father wrote him saying how much him and his family are greatful to have those photos and greatful that he captured their little girl as she was. Everyone got very emotional as you can imagine. His point in doing this was to show us that it doesn't matter if you win awards or make lots of money because you touch peoples lives with the photographes you take. Very moving and I still can't get the image of the little girl out of my mind.
Here is the story on Alexa:

That is so awesome and a privledge to hear his story and experience it. YOU are RIGHT, LIFE is precious and everyday is a blessing with the people you experience it with. The ones you know and don't know.

I should also add that this photographer said to this day he has still not been able to bring him self to do another Family Portrait session because he is still that emotional about it.
