Trick or Treating
So when it comes to trick or treating, at what age do you stop going out? I have a 16 year old and she wants to still go out with her friends and my 6 and 8 year old think that is silly. I think she is too old and since she hasn't gone out in probably 4 years why now? I don't understand teenagers I guess?

Jeanne, I guess I wouldn't like trick or treating if that happened to me either. I was like you when I was little, very shy and didn't want to go out until I was in the 2nd grade. We go out in our neighborhood and we are close to all of our neighbors so they get special things from each one. They have an absolute blast handing the candy out to the other kids so that is good

I was never into the whole trick or treating thing. As a kid I never got the concept of going to strangers houses and asking for candy. I suppose that had to do with me being shy. The last time I went trick or treating was when I was in 4th grade. I got bit by a dog that night and that was the icing on the cake for me.

I agree with both of you that 16 is a little too old. What happened to it for the little ones that really enjoy dressing up and getting a surprise of candy.

I stopped going trick or treating at 14, but then I went again when I was 17.
I like passing out candy now. I like seeing all the neat and creative costumes now. However there are only 6 small children, where I live and all the rest are all college kids.

I agree, 16 is too old. I was attending parties at my friend's houses by that time, but to each their own I guess. I stopped trick or treating at 11 I think. I was never very fond of it though...would rather pass out the candy and see the itty bitty kids come to the door. :)
