While Martina was on her Summer 2019 West Coast run, Team Music Is Love tagged along to help people in communities on the tour.
Before Martina’s show near Everett, WA, Team Music Is Love partnered with Hope Creek Charitable Foundation and Mill Creek Food Bank to give away a truckload of 7400 pounds of food to people in need. Some 370 families received a cart load of fresh organic fruits and vegetables, canned goods, diapers, and pet food.
Volunteers from around the community gathered before the concert to set up tents and tables and help families shop for food in a farmer’s market style setting.
Many of these families cannot afford fresh produce and healthy meals and end up relying on cheaper fast food and processed foods. Giving families in need the chance to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables restores health and dignity to those who may be experiencing hardships. Nationally, as many as 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 5 children experience food insecurity in the United States.
Since Team Music Is Love began sponsoring food distributions on Martina’s concert tours around the United States, approximately 350,000 meals have been served to people in need.
