Pink Ribbons
I am a 3 year breast cancer survivor. I was 35 at diagnosis and my goal is to let people know that you are never too young for this disease. I also am BRCA2 positive which means now my kiddos will have to be tested. I wrote a song a while back about it. My daughter composed it(she is 13). My dream is to have Martina sing it! She could do so much to raise awareness!! The link to it on youtube is listed below. It is a simple clip, because I am not a professional(lol). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bReWqRyAVCs
The work is done, she’s finally here
It’s a girl the whole room cheered
We took her home and dressed her up
With all the things a girl’s made of
We put pink ribbons all up in her hair
Her pretty curls everywhere
We stood and smiled at that baby girl
And prayed to God, please watch over her
In this crazy world
So now she’s seventeen and it’s time
That perfect prom dress we set out to find
She spun around and I told her that
Just one more thing before she left
We put pink ribbons all up in her hair
Her pretty curls hangin’ everywhere
We stood and smiled at our baby girl
And prayed to God, please watch over her
In this crazy world
At twenty-six it can’t be true,
The doctor’s tell us what they have to do
She’s just too young is all we could say
As our hearts were breaking that winter day
So now pink ribbons are what WE wear
As her pretty curls are no longer there
We watched them fall to the floor
Have we ever felt so helpless before?
Please God heal her
In this crazy world
There’s so many out there like her
So many out there prayin’
That a cure will be found someday
And all these pink ribbons will fade away
But for now pink ribbons are what we’ll wear
As her pretty curls are no longer there
We watched them fall to the floor
Have we ever felt so helpless before?
Please God heal her, heal her, heal her
In this crazy world

Re: Pink Ribbons
Thats how I write my poems too. I just write a phrase down. I add to it, add the rhymes and go on from there til I have it finished. You have some great writing skills.
