Re: HAPPINESS IS...
Hmmm, thinking about this one! Many things make me happy. Aside from the the obvious of God, family, friends and health : music is certainly at the top of the list, learning is something that I treasure, knowing something today that was unknown to me yesterday feels like a lil' light lit within me.
At the risk of analyzing this question and perhaps posting items that you did not intend. The word "happiness" is very difficult for many to describe vs things that make us happy. The latter I could give 500 examples of easily.
I found myself giggling like a child the other day rediscovering the pleasure in popping bubble rap.
Comfort food, having great food along with great company and conversations will make me feel elated for days, my childhood memories make me happy, (frequently recall my grandmother dancing the twist, etc. with my siblings and myself; that memory makes me so happy that I have promised myself that I will never let myself become so rigid in my ways as I age, that I refuse to let my hair down and leave my comfort zone

Re: HAPPINESS IS...
Without thinking about it, the first thing that came to mind was hearing my kids laugh. Interesting to note that's also the first thing on Kim's list.
--Listening to the rain while I'm curled up in bed.
--Snow.
--Long walks in the woods.
--Watching the Mountaineers. (Especially if they win!)
--The Christmas season.
--Watching movies with my brother who is also my best friend.
--Listening to Martina sing. (Preferably in concert!)
--How much my husband loves me.
--How much I love my kids.

Re: HAPPINESS IS...
Great Thread!!! To name of few things which make me happy: Spending time with my family, having time with my Grandchildren which really makes me happy, sitting on the beach or on the balcony at the beach watching the waves, being at camp and having campfires and games and family around and also the freedom to go to church each Sunday and have my family in good health.

Thank you for the compliment.

Forgive me, I am awful at accepting compliments. I had to check for the twitter followers, lol, it's 266. I think it's safe to say that 75% of that is bs. It took me a while to catch on to it, not into the #'s and social media clout thing what so ever. Twitter was a particular challenge in that I love words. I communicate with perhaps 6-10 on a regular basis. I have adopted two cyber teens (or they adopted me
) from Martina's that I chat with almost nightly. Raising them (or vice versa) on twitter is something that I could make into a book one day,

Thank you again.
Avoiding my derailing yet another topic with nostalgic scents that make me happy.
Original scent Pledge furniture polish. It is not made any longer, GRRRR!

I can still recall that scent from childhood!
The old Jergens hand lotion, Johnson baby shampoo and baby lotion and their baby powder. The scent of my grandmothers ceder chest and that moth ball type scent (though actually offensive to me, is pleasant in a nostalgic way) My grandmother could slay a dragon with the amount of moth balls that she had around the house.

The aroma and the event of homemade bread humbles me to mah knees!

Re: HAPPINESS IS...

Just a short one for now, have to get some sleep. I was watching my darling baby "monster" last Sunday when he hit me so hard in my face that I was stunned. Now the only way to make this almost 14 month old boy hurt is to pul his hair. He really doesn't cry but if scolded at the same time he will. So I did that and told him to go sit and leave Gma alone. I put my head on the pillow (on the floor) and this little boy that never, I mean rarely ever parts with a kiss came over and kissed me forever. That is what happiness is.
Ahhhhh

Re: HAPPINESS IS...
Whole Lotta (no, I am not going to yack about Zeppelin AGAIN

) great posts here!
Things that make me giggle are among the things that make me happy.
Having the newspaper at the breakfast table is insufficient immunity from my reading the cereal box.

When those that know me try to make me say words that I can not say, yet I try anyway.....aluminum does not translate from my brain to mah mouth. It comes out aluminininin. (giggle, snort) I said, aluahnumin, (stop looking at me, turn around, then I can say it) (takes a deep breath) ahlu, ahlahaaaaaaaaaaah. It's all your guyz's fault!

Antithesis is a nightmare for me. Antittis, antiputtthis, an, (please turn around again) an-, wait a sec....antis apthis, right? (Takes a bow, pees pants with laughter)

- My dog. She never fails to make me smile.

Re: HAPPINESS IS...
Well I just gave a little story, that I thought was kinda cute. But what makes me happy in my life are at the top of Heidi and Kim's list.
My children. They are now adults and I have so many wonderful memories. I can still hear their laughter in my head all these years later. (And their pain).. But I am happy they grew up to be independent and have a heart that loves to give and care about others. They all have their own children and they are a big part of my happiness. The older ones have their own lives at the moment, but they will be back soon.
Nothing makes me happier than a family get together with all my kids and grandkids, will have to say that would be high on the happiness list.
My family in Cali coming to visit or myself going out there. I love my family no matter where they live and make sure to see and stay in touch.
Lots of hugs and "I love you's" go deep in my heart.
My husband makes me happy when he is not being a typical man and his caring side shows.
Music, that goes hand in hand with my family. I love music, always have, grew up with all but country believe it or not yet here I am the past 20 years a huge fan of country music in addition to all the other genres I love. I would be remiss if I don't mention Martina's name.
Christmas is one of my happiest times of year. The entire meaning of Christmas is in my heart and the joy that surrounds it.
Of course chocolate and cheesecake. Decadent desserts. But on the other side is Italian food. Mmmm.
Making plans with my bf to go on any trip like we concerts and Cmafest next year. Hubby gets upset at first and then understands so I can be happy to enjoy it. It has taken years to get my friend to do anything, now she is up for all that I toss at her. I love that so much and it makes up both so happy.
Looking for different places to just go and take pictures. Love a little hiking (my neck doesn't) but my legs are fine. Someone is always there for me to help me carry the weight of my equipment, not that I have that much. I am just a bit weak in my upper body. This is my time of year to do it too, so I better hop to it or all the beautiful foliage will pass. I love fall, the colors, the crisp clean air. The cruch of leaves underfoot. So much beauty.
Winter is as well, but I don't feel the love of the cold as much... Does not stop me from taking pictures though.
The beach, camping, bonfires with marshmellows falling off the stick into the fire and the kids laughing thinking I am so bad at it..
Just how much I love life, I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful family near and far. I am so fortunate to have my new friends right here on this board, you know who you are. I am so fortunate to be able to do all that I can, no regrets as I do what I can.
And Carolyn you will love this. I was in the store last weeks and someone that worked there had a bunch of the bubble rap and as I walked by I popped a couple, this girl was so cool, she cracked up and we were both laughing. I love that there are people like that out there. God knows we need more or I need to meet more, I can never meet enough and I have to say that is selfish because I have been blessed with so many wonderful people in my life.
I'll get to the some other things later, I have a lifetime of things that made me happy. I hope you all do too.

Re: HAPPINESS IS...
Thank you for making my day Leigh with those beautiful thoughts. Life is full of smiles and happiness in waiting, all you have to do is leave the door open to receive their gifts.
Being receptive and grateful for the gifts that which makes me laugh and giggle, and sometimes reflect on how fortunate I am for this treasure. In a country of freedom, feel it my obligation to leave this "door opened." Thee are many parts of the world whose population is focused on how and when they are going to get their next meal, have their dignity and human rights violated, etc.
Long live the gift of laughter! Cheers and Amen.

Laughter is my favorite gift of all, it has nothing to do with money.
