Sonny and Cher! LMAO, the young here have no idea how popular they were in the 70's! It was the Desi and Lucy breakup of the 70's.

Real music wise, I must agree with Johnny Cash and June Carter. I know that the Beatles are considered the "Fab Four," but lets face it, it was the duo of John Lennon and Paul McCartney that made the band legendary. That is not to dismiss the amazing talent and contributions of George Harrison and to a lesser extent, Ringo.

Also, Simon and Garfunkel, Tammy Wynette and George Jones, Ike and Tina Turner, The Righteous Brothers, The Everly Brothers, The White Stripes, Les Paul and Mary Ford, Loggins and Messina, Eurythymics, Dah Blues Brothers, Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell, Jan and Dean.

Yes, I did have to google in a reminder list to this ol' brain (or reasonable facsimile thereof ) and Imma leaving my best of the best agreements.

Lemme exit by ruffling a few feathers.

Carolyn, my daughter would disagree with ya on ole Ringo, she being a drummer and all... good choices...non musically, I'd have to say Tracy and Hepburn or Mickey and Judy, thou the later is a musical duo on screen.

Interesting point MQ. I am of the opinion that The Beatles greatest contribution was their meaningful and enduring lyrics. Instrumentally, guitar work was often subtle and perfectly matched for the eloquent lyrics of, e.g., "In My Life." Certainly, "Revolution" is one of the few songs that required strong guitar work. "Sgt. Pepper was groundbreaking for lyrics and the unusual use of horns, etc.in addition to avant-garde lyrics.

I would be interested in hearing your daughters opinion on Ringo's strength in The Beatles. I see him as adequatley supportive, but am open to input. Your daughter being a drummer, she is likely aware of known drummer genius' that I am such as John Bonham of Led Zeppelin and Neil Pert of Rush.

I have (essentially) the opposite opinion of Led Zeppelin. Lyrically, the meaning of much of their lyrics can be exotic to the extent of remaining a mystery to me. Instrumentally, this band blows me away with their ability till this day and always will.

Claire, not trying to derail the subject, trying to clarify where I'm coming from with my opinion. Hope thats okay.

Three other great duos would be Salt and Pepper, the female duo and lets not forget that everyday condiement that comes out of our shakers.

The Flat Duo Jets have been referred to as "punkabilly." Wish they were still together. They refused to play on pricey equipment, as they did not have the same raw sound. I could not agree more.
