Your Fears

Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 6:22 AM

My recent viewing of Martina's biggest fear prompted me to be curious to poll the fans to share some of theirs.

#1) Hurricanes. Guaranteed high anxiety for me with one approaching here. Re-live all those awful memories of Hurricane Andrew.
#2) Anestheia. I fear that I'm going to feel the pain but not be able to tell anyone or that I will not be able to wake up.
#3) Can't handle heights that are not enclosed. I get a very physical feeling of being pulled down.

    Well Keith,

At last you journey outside the song workship. I only posted their once. I felt a bit stupid, I know nothing about song writing. I love words, love music, and am in admiration of those that are able to two together to make a song. So, is it okay if someone like me stops by?

Thanks My Pepsi. There must be a strory behind using "My Pepsi" for a name, huh? Wanna make up or tell me a real mame, you know a human type one, LOL!

I also have have hearing loss, secondary to tinnitus,(ringing in the ears) and I know that there are times that I wish that I could educate others. The most frequent annoyance with me is the public will tend to talk down to me,often using simpler words or phrases; as though to imply the problem is with my intelligence. They don't know that I can't hear much from the side and almost nothing in back of me.

My human name is MyPepsi, see my parents wanted there children to have original names... LOL Kidding! I am addicted to Pepsi. My email addy is GiveMeMyPepsi, but that is usually to long for boards. So I shortened it to MyPepsi. As for my human name, most people call me Sam.

I know a little about tinnitus from the movie Music Within. It is a great movie and based on a true story of Richard Pimentel. If you watch it have a box of tissue in hand. One minute you will be crying tears and the next you will be laughing tears. I think my favorite line from the movie is when Richard and his best friend Art (who has cerebral palsy) are leaving a diner. Art says "I just have one question, Does this wheelchair make my butt look big?"

Interesting. I have dysautonomia or autonomic neuropathy which is a neurological disorder that effects pretty much everything that's involuntary. I usually do very well with it.

It is good that you do well with it. It can be tough at times. I have a few great friends and family who help. I dont know what I'd do without them.

Oh, I see from the first sentence......you are a real smart ass like me What is clear to me is that we should open a thread. I have to get ready for work now. I you don't want to start one, I will try to tonight, if I'm not too tired. I have to see that movie that you mentioned, just based on that one line. Is it readliy available? BTW, is Sam short for something like Samantha or Samuel,?

    Heidi,

I had no idea! Thanks for sharing that with us. I have some questions for you when the post is started. By all means, start it if you like. I bet that you wish that others knew a few things about your side of the fence, huh? With me, I laugh when I can.
For example, once in the waiting room at the Dr.'s, I could not help but to look at this woman, who had these striking features.....like that singer, Sade. I inquired where she was from. I thought that she was being inappropiate by replying to me that she was a lesbian.Come to find out, what she actually said is that she is Lebonese.

I tend to be forgiving by nature, but some times the remarks and reactions of others can hurt. We are human after all.

Smart Ass... that is my other name! S.A.M. would be my initials if I had my mom's maiden name. My uncle pointed it out when I was a baby and it stuck like glue.

Nope, can't seem to move the posts. I guess a new thread will need to be started.

Okay, here's a good Seinfeld quote. “According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.”

Love that Heidi! I forgot I do have a fear of public speaking, my mind wants to go blank on me and I feel naked standing in front of people and talking. I have not been asked in a while, so I have not gave it much thought.

I recently remembered another fear. When I am at a cemetary, the unsetteled ground gives me the creeps. 27 yrs. after my mother's death and the no where in the cemetary does the ground feel normal, even in the places where there has been no room to add another for years. I can't compare it to anyhting natural, major creepers!!

    1. Spinning while driving (Black Ice or Falling asleep at the wheel)
Due to a major car accident this is something I never need again. I still had pictures of a big 18-wheeler coming towards me before hitting the car when I closed the eyes.

    2. Another criminal act against my family
As my mum has experienced 4 criminal acts against family and friends this is something that she never needs again. My fear is that while I am exploring the world something will happen. This just teaches me to be extra careful.
The last thing that happened to close family-friends :
