Thank you for the information and thank you for your previous work.

That being said, I think getting rid of the feedback section of the forums and replacing it with PM's or E-mail is a very bad idea. Yes, there is a herding instinct and things can get negative quickly especially on issues that affect many; are long standing; and are not properly addressed by the administration. However, it is rather important that people feel that there is accountability and if the complaints are silenced then there is no public accountability to the fans and they then feel even more powerless.

Rather than silencing the public complaints, I would strongly encourage that each complaint be responded to by someone in authority reassuring the public/fans base that their issue was heard and an actual answer to their problem even if that answer is too bad that is just the way it is going to be. A policy of openness is far better than a policy of silencing the critics to instill a sense of community

Very good Darren...that was an enjoyable read. Glad to hear you are still a main player there, I was a little worried about that part of the new website. You've always been very helpful to us and we appreciate it. Change is usually a good thing, but with computers and software not always an easy one.

Take care, and you're right.....NOBODY SINGS LIKE MARTINA!!!

    Hi Darren.
Thank you very much for the update and for keeping us all informed about what's going on.
It sounds like you had a very productive meeting with GC regarding the various Website issues, and I for one am very grateful for all that you are doing on our behalf for both FC and non FC members alike. I know a lot of hard work has being going on behind the scenes as Team McBride and GC strive to achieve the impossible - pleasing every single one of us who logs in to this site daily, but at least you are all trying to do what you can, so thank you for that.
This update of yours is welcome news because for the last few weeks the silence has been deafening from GC while we at this end have been getting more and more frustrated about the lack of feedback regarding our OWN feedback (if you see what I mean!). At least now we know GC are listening and acting on our input wherever possible!

Having said all that, can I just raise a couple of points, though?
I agree with the earlier post from BingBangBop - I don't think it's a good idea to get rid of the Feedback topic.
I think things only started to get very negative because it seemed GC were regarding us Forum posters' as the
problem with our various requests, and in the end they just stopped responding to us. Perhaps I'm being unfair but that's how it came across to me. Hopefully now you've had your "clear the air" meeting we can all start off on an even keel again because I don't think anyone was being critical just for the sake of it.
If we still had a Feedback section and our queries were answered on a regular basis I think it would be
productive for both "sides", and I'm sure there'd be a lot more praise forthcoming as issues were seen to be addressed - or at the very least, acknowledged.

My second point is regarding Friends Rquests (for us non FC members).
In your update you state that the add friends/send private PM's feature is going to stay a FC perk "for the forseeable future". However, in your post of 11th October in the Friends Requests Problem thread you said
"Before the switch over to GC Martina was very specific that she wanted the new forums/Martinaville to be open to EVERYONE, not just paying members."
Can you tell us what's changed, please, and why? And also, why were we allowed access for a few fleeting days last month if it was to be a FC "perk"?
Sorry if you think I'm having a go at you - that is certainly not my intention. I'd just be grateful if you could explain the change of heart to us non FC members, please.
Thank you for reading this, and a big THANK YOU for doing all that do - it really IS appreciated, you know!!

To answer Di's question in regards to the private messages and friends requests it all really came down to Ground Ctrl feeling that these features are worthy of being an added value to those folks that sign up to be in Martina's fan club. Since the site is new we are just at the start of producing exclusive content just for the fan club members only, meaning there isn't a lot of that available for the site yet. Ground Ctrl feels that at this point every little perk we can offer the fan club members helps them feel like they're getting their money's worth. It is something that may be revisited in a few months when content has been rolling in. That's why I made the suggestion to give all of the existing Martinaville members from the old site a free 3-month trial to the fan club. It will give everyone access to those two features and more and hopefully in that time we amass enough great content in the fan club area that you'll also enjoy.

As someone said it's hard to make EVERYONE happy, but that's what we are trying to do. John point blank asked in the meeting whether or not a free fan club or paid fan club was truly a better option. Obviously two radically different concepts, but both are probably worthy of more discussion than we even had time to give it at this meeting. On one hand it would be great to open up everything to everyone but on the other hand there are some of the perks like the pre-sales tickets that become a little less of a perk if most or all of the fans have it. It really isn't an easy question to answer, we obviously are going to keep striving to produce a web site that both members and non-members can enjoy and find useful.

I know we're going to be seeing some cool video footage from this upcoming tour. The band has been given Flip cameras (thanks to Ground Ctrl) so every crazy moment of what happens behind the scenes on a major country tour might just make it up onto the web site! Let's all sit back and try to have fun and enjoy the ride. And I'm serious, if anyone has any ideas on how we can promote Martina and her music, let me know! Or if we can help you promote her, same deal.

    Thanks,
    Darren

I'm against completely free fan club's because that often leads to fan club's dissolving and going away.

Unfortunately, generally speaking, it wouldn't surprise me if people started walking away from this site anyway, now that GC have decided the social side of the Forum is to be a FC "perk" for the forseeable future. What a real shame that would be!

I don't remember you from the old Martinaville and that's why I don't accept your anti-change or GC posts as easily as those made by people I remember from the old Martinaville like Kat, Pearl and Amy.

    Darren,Ground control,and Ect,
I don't think just getting rid of the fee back will help matters. At least with feedback thread people can see thier complaint down for all to see, I'm not saying that it helps on your end but it helps to see it down in print. I think people need to stay more on the topic than just start to ramble about things in general. I was disappointed that the 10:00 start to Buffalo was off by I'm not sure how much. People have set a side time to get on the web site to get pre-sale tickets.
On the good side I've seen a lot of improvement in the site so keep up the good work. Rome wasn't built in a day so lets keep the faith that it'll all get figured out.

That is about as rude of a thing as I've read on Martina's forums ever. Knock it off Danial.
