The only people who know why Birmingham was canceled are the promoters and hopefully the artists. It's not for any of us to say we know, cause we don't. My impressions of Martina will never be burst. She is the best at what she does and from a personal standpoint, no one will ever tarnish her repore with me. This woman is remarkable. Things happen and I'm just going along with it all the while supporting her. Cancelations are in no way affecting anything having to do with Martina--character-wise or popularity-wise in my book. She'sll always be exceptional in both areas. When and if, people are willing to talk about why it was canceled, they will, but the bottom line is...it's canceled and we need to find another show to attend if possible.

I never said that any of this was Martina's fault or reflected badly on her. Except still not having announced it here after it has hit the press is an unfortunate oversight. But times are tough, and saying that this couldn't possibly be because ticket sales are slow is naive. Honestly, wouldn't most people prefer to think that Martina and Trace were forced to cancel because of finances, instead of some whim or change of their minds? It's nothing to be ashamed of- ticket sales are down for all but the very biggest stars, and putting on a tour in the winter is tough, even in a good economy. I would respectfully suggest that if people are flying in from out of town for any of these dates (except next week is probably safe ) they either hold off a little on booking their flights, or book with Southwest, where there aren't any fees for changing your flight, and you can even cancel the ticket and they will give you credit that you can spend on another flight for up to a year later(and you can even extend that, for a small fee, when the year is up)

I don't know what kind of tickets are left for Atlanta, but she always sells out the same arena here; so, the Birmingham people might want to check out that option.

I hate to burst anyone's impressions of Martina, but when shows are canceled after tickets are on sale, but this far out, so that it's obviously not an emergency, it IS because ticket sales are too slow to support a concert at that venue. And although, especially since Martina isn't touring alone, she wasn't the sole one responsible for the decision, it couldn't have been made WITHOUT her. Times are tough, and both Trace and Martina appeal to the older crowd, with families. At this time of year, parents are spending what little "extra" money they have on Christmas presents for their kids, not concert tickets.

My point is, it's not Martina's responsibility to manage the tour. If a date has been canceled and it's not an emergency, it's not as if she's pointed to the schedule and said, "Let's cancel this one and that one."

For what it's worth, my hunch would be that if Grand Prairie and Beaumont have been pulled from the schedule it would be down to issues with the promoter. I always thought that after a contract has been signed the promoter has to pay a specified amount by a certain date and if they don't .....

Bear in mind that this is just my ill-informed guesswork - you are free to start your own rumour :)

I thought Martina and Trace were supposed to "go all out" and market for this tour. I have not heard or seen anything in various media outlets anywhere in Western NY- or Western PA for that matter. Mcgraw is being promoted all over the place- via facebook blasts and mass emails to people in the area and his concert is not until August..It was the same thing when Keith Urban and T. Keith comes anywhere near our area...

I am SO, SO bummed that the B'ham concert got cancelled!! And we had 5th row seats!!!! I LOVE, LOVE Martina - she will always be my # 1 female country singer.
I justed checked the concert website (shineallnight.com) and I didn't see any comments about the cancelled concerts. I even checked GACTV.com, and nothing!

Martina - if you're reading this...PLEASE let us know why these concerts got cancelled!! I hate to think that it's poor ticket sales. If so, why it because it was Martina and Blake Shelton instead of Martina and Trace?

According to John the only show that has been canceled in the Birmingham date, so I expect to see the Texas dates go on sale as listed.

I don't think anyone should read too much into a few cancelled concerts in this economic climate. No one would suggest that Keith Urban was on any kind of decline. Like Martina, he put out what may have been his best album earlier this year. Last time KU came through town he did 2 sold out or nearly sold out shows. This year he only played one with probably 25% of the seats empty. He took a very gracious moment to discuss how hard he knew it was for people to afford to come out and see him and thanked us all for making the decision to spend our hard earned money to see him.
I am very sorry for the people who had planned to see the cancelled shows, but I don't see it as indicative of anything other than what we already know- this recovery is going to take a while.

I'm sorry to those who were planning to go to the cancelled show. I would be really upset if I had tickets or was planning on going. Hopefully whatever the problem is, it will be resolved soon :/

Right now GAC is the only TV outlet with any kind of commercials or videos to air about the tour. The Sunny D commercial's are still being filmed.

I don't think the goal of any Martina headline tour has ever been to have a sold-out tour and never expect one of her tour's to sell-out. Sold-out concert's would be nice, but not an entire tour because that's asking too much.

My point was not that she needs to sell out. NOBODY (except for Taylor Swift) is selling out - my point is that maybe some advertising and promotion would help to sell more tickets than normal...

My point is that she or her people do cancel concerts from time to time.To acknowledge this is not a bashing of the artist but only a reality check. To use comments like 'Martina never cancels a show' is inaccurate at best.Get real.

I think that I may have figured out why the concert was cancelled. After seeing the upcoming tour comercials on GAC, Martina has started a bus repair company on the side and she is getting way behind on the repairs! LOL

Aww I'm sorry for the fans who bought tickets and I'm sorry for Martina if tickets have been slow. I do think it's a lot to do with the economic times and some people simply can't afford it. Martina has a massive amount of dates and if this is the only one cancelled, then it's not bad going. Also this was a duo tour so it's not all down to Martina.

We had plans to go to a Trace Adkins and Lynrd Skynrd Concert on New Years Eve In Nashville. That concert was canceled and they blamed the economy for low ticket sales. But, they had tickets priced way too high. That was a greedy promoters fault. Tickets to that concert in the first 25 rows were almost $250. Trace and Skynrd had a concert planned that same night in Kentucky. Trace opened one place, and Skynrd opened the other. The concert in Kentucky was more reasonable. I think floor seats were $120.

I think the same thing happened to the Birmingham concert. Martina tickets were actually $1 less than Brad Paisley at the same venue. Difference is, Brad Paisley fan club holds the tickets at Will Call, saving on all the ticketmaster fees. 1 ticket at the BJCC to see Brad Paisley was $58.75 total. One ticket to see Martina at the BJCC after Ticketmaster fees was $82.75. That adds up after gas to get there and food and souvenirs.
