FTT, thank you so much for posting this. It is so informative on so many levels.
Producer, engineer and of course vocalist, Martina. She has extraordinary work ethics and makes me that much prouder to be a part of this site with her at the helm.
Martina you "Shine" so much for all your hard work and your team's to make us love your music.
John thank you for so much for your insight into Martina that some of us may not realize.
Check it out, so worthwhile. Just let it buffer for awhile and enjoy...

Re: Anatomy of a Hit: Shine
I remember listening to this shortly after Shine was released. At the time, I was impressed for It is very good at explaining some of the processes that one of her albums goes through to get released that people that are not in the business ever know of. Its value has not diminished. A highly recommended listen/watch, even if you have listened to it before.
It would be interesting to see the same done for the current album Eleven to see what was done differently and what was similar.

Re: Anatomy of a Hit: Shine
Lots of really good stuff in this one.
Nice discussion of AutoTune - Martina refuses to use it (and doesn't like hearing it) and Dan Huff makes excuses for it.
I like John's comments on the fine line between art and commerce. Also the quote about the state of radio.
New Year's Day--Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.

Re: Anatomy of a Hit: Shine
Agree with you OG on the auto tune. Actually passed that information on today to some folks. I think its more common to use it than not.
Resolutions? I haven't had time to even think about making those (and breaking them later)....
