And he’s doing it again. His 39th studio album HERE FOR A GOOD TIME is already receiving rave reviews before it’s release next week, the title track is on the brink of Top 10 at radio and his 2012 tour plans are underway.
The King of Country Music revealed he’s invited another award-winning superstar to join him on stage – Martina McBride. The tour will kick off late January. Cities and on-sale information will be announced soon.
“I love Martina. She’s been on our tours before and she’s great, “ commented Strait. “I’m really looking forward to the tour. Martina will definitely make it a special night.”
Strait’s current single, “Here For A Good Time” currently sits at #11 on the Billboard chart. The album Here For A Good Time will be in stores Tuesday, September 6. Strait co-wrote seven of the 11 tracks with his son Bubba and the legendary songwriter Dean Dillon.

Strait was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
His last CD Twang debuted at #1 on The Billboard 200 chart and the Top Country Albums chart making it the fourth time in Strait's 30+ year career to have an album debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and the 13th time to debut at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart.
Martina McBride will release her eleventh studio album titled ELEVEN on October 11, 2011. As one of the most spectacular voices in any genre of music, Martina McBride is a four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, three-time ACM Female Vocalist of the Year and GRAMMY® winning recording artist with more than 18 million in album sales.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I think it just seemed like Reba did a full show...as I am not a fan either. But who knows I was just too excited to see/meet LAW for the first time!
As a fan of Martina's I want to see her no matter what. As an invested fan, (i.e. selfish, wanting her to make CD's and tour forever) I want the best for her and her career. I think that is why we 'the crazy people' as Rabbit calls us, are concerned...without reason.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
George was kind enuff to hook up BOTH Reba Fans & LAW fans with pre-sales that offered good/great seats depending on the venue.. Geo will probably do the same with this tour..If not, we kick his ass..that simple...

Looking at set lists during that tour, Reba did 18-20 songs a night.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
If Martina does a full set, I will try my best to get there!! (If I can afford it being a poor college student).... I'm not a huge fan of george, but I don't dislike him either... I think it'll be great for M, but I may end up passing if the ticket cost is too high.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
To be honest, I am not a George fan at all!!! This happened when Martina toured with Alan Jackson as well back in 2004. I didn't like him at all and I went only for Martina and sat through Alan's set. He was pretty good. I think I might just go for Martina if she is the opener and then leave. I was hoping that someone more exciting would go with her on tour!!! Yes, I will always be a Martina fan, but just because she is touring with George does not mean it will make me a fan of him, too.

My dream finally came true on 10-3-08 in Charlotte, NC and 4-30-10 in Greensboro, NC I finally met Martina!!!:) -

and Peterman was out there with her for 10 minutes or so each night yakking it up, so Reber was allotted a good chunk of time.. i think Miss THANG will get her time too!

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I don't know if I'll be going to any of these shows or not. I'm poor and I know for George/Reba it was over $100 here in columbus last year. I know several people that went to his show said the round stage was awkward especially for picture taking. Still regardless of it, I'm wanting to go to a show.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I'm finding this thread more and more interesting. While I'm not a huge fan, I certainly have a healthy respect for Mr. Strait. The guy has been a consistently huge name in country music since the 80's. Close to 60 #1 songs and I quote, "He has been nominated for more CMA and ACM awards and has more wins in both categories than any other artist."
Pretty good resume!
I hope Martina isn't getting similar comments on his board. My only problem with the set-up is pride. As she's my favorite, I don't like the idea of Martina opening for anybody. That said, I'm glad she's being paired with someone who is the real deal.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I'm agreeing with so many of y'all on this forum. I'm just not a GS fan...I have a couple of his songs on my ipod, but I think they were free songs. If the tickets are expensive, I will probably have to get the cheap seats and sneak in my zoom lens to see Martina. I guess it's a wait and see thing.

I decided to "like" George Strait's page on facebook and his fans are giving Martina nothing but kudos. They are all looking forward to an excellent concert by two excellent artists.
I only hope that the concert is done on a front stage and not in the center of the arena.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I'd prefer the center of floor rotating stage set-up or end stage with the runway stage set-up for the concerts with George Strait.
George is also like Garth, when he asks do you want to tour with me... you say when, do I start!

I've never been to see George Strait, so I'm unfamiliar with the whole round stage setup. I would THINK that it would be a wonderful setup for fans to feel closer to the artist, except for the poor people who have to stare at their back, I guess, during certain parts of the concert. Pro's and con's, I suppose.
It's nice to see that his fans are praising Martina and are excited about this concert. I, too, am disappointed that she's not headlining, or at least CO-headlining this tour. Still wondering who else may be touring with them, as that's what the general rule is now...having 3 acts at the shows. If that's the case, it'll probably be someone pretty new to the scene...Eden's Edge, Brantley Gilbert, Craig Campbell, etc. Guess we'll have to wait and see! -
Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE COME TO AUSTRALIA I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS SHOW
(i say this a lot hoping for it to come true. Please do a tour in Australia Martina) -
Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I've been to several George Strait concerts with various opening acts. By far, the best concerts were the last couple of years with George and Reba. I am looking forward to seeing Martina touring with George.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
Do you think we will have a chance at a fan club presale? I remember when Martina toured with Alan and there wasn't one. Even though I am not a fan of George, I will go and I would like to have good seats!!! I wasn't a fan of Alan's but after his show, I became one...so I will do the same for Mr. Strait. I just remember when Martina toured with Alan and there wasn't a fan club presale because she was the opener, I got stuck with not so good seats and I wasn't happy.
TRACY, if you come across my post, please for the love of your boss, ask her if we could have a fan club presale because I can't stand sitting in bad seats for shows! THANKS!
