And he’s doing it again. His 39th studio album HERE FOR A GOOD TIME is already receiving rave reviews before it’s release next week, the title track is on the brink of Top 10 at radio and his 2012 tour plans are underway.
The King of Country Music revealed he’s invited another award-winning superstar to join him on stage – Martina McBride. The tour will kick off late January. Cities and on-sale information will be announced soon.
“I love Martina. She’s been on our tours before and she’s great, “ commented Strait. “I’m really looking forward to the tour. Martina will definitely make it a special night.”
Strait’s current single, “Here For A Good Time” currently sits at #11 on the Billboard chart. The album Here For A Good Time will be in stores Tuesday, September 6. Strait co-wrote seven of the 11 tracks with his son Bubba and the legendary songwriter Dean Dillon.

Martina McBride will release her eleventh studio album titled ELEVEN on October 11, 2011. Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
AllegedlyROSS!!(this is in response to his question to me) the worst was at the TAMPA show!! Twas the night before i met ya in Florida for the LBT/Martina show! I stoopidly was wearn my bright white LAW shirt, which even all the elderly, visually challenged, George Strait fans could pick out from 1/2 way across the arena! I was there ONLY for LAW and to make cell phone calls to friends during the REBA set.. Anyhoo, my seats were OK, but the arena was empty at 7:25 and Miss THAANG was slated to go on precisely at 7:30.. to be honest with ya, NOBODY but myself and a handful of peeps even cared or even knew that LAW was there- so i mosey on down to a primo seat with my friend Ken who looks as if he plays center for the Green Bay Packers.. Now, when i say "mosey", i really mean that i am hooting & a hollerin and dancing and justa screamin for my GRRL, ya know? Plunk my ample arse in an empty entire section and proceed to go NUTS as per my usual.. well, about 7:52ish the place begins to fill up and these peeps(2) are actually attempting to move me, even tho the entire section is empty- i am in their seats- i move one row behind them and let em know im JUST HERE for LAW (apparently they did NOT enjoy my singing) & also that i will be gone when REBER/George comes on and LAW is ONLY playin a 30 minute set so cld they please be quiet as she very soon will be finishing... WRONG THANG to say.. this man shakes his walkin stick at me, i ignore him, he ever so slooowly walks up to complain about me to the guard.. buuuut, it takes him quite some time to do that- in fact, i have lapped him on the stairs as i am leavin that section AFTER the LAW part..but he is PISSED off and proceeds to apparently give the guard hell bout my mere prescence.. I am walkin around at this time but when i decide to go back for LAW's duet with Reba, an hour later, to my actual seat- the guard tries to stop me as I have been described to him, apparently with pinpoint accuracy, by the elderly "gentlemen" and he tries to stop me from goin to my real seat- I ignore him and enjoy the duet and then proceed to leave for fear i will fall asleeep during REBER's set (sorry, cant get into her) ANYHOO- i am collared by this guard who is also a card-carrying member of AARP for some years who is huffing and a puffing and accusing me of "out-running" him.. more likely i was jus moving faster as i have at least a good 40 years on the DUDE.. he is so upset cause I have caused such commotion, angst etc to this elderly couple and to HIM- i mean, this guy is close to tears.. Im like, "DUDE, Im outta your hair "(and i do mean hair (as in one), as he is nearly bald) and i proceed to jus tell him ima leavn anyways.. not GOOD enough for him.. he wants to see my ticket, wants me to wait whilest he CALLS in "back-up" He wants my ticket so he can CONVISCATE it!! UN-FRIGGN- BELIEVABLE!! UMM, is this a robbery in progress on LAW & ORDER- u need "back-up"??? REALLY?? well, i jus grab my guy KEN and git the HELL outta there with him trying to follow me and take my ticket! I sought refuge with womack in the Tampa Bay Lightning locker room where the BIG question from her peeps was, ""What in the HELL happened in that section you were in? and why was there a complaint about HER fans from SECU-RI-TAY?" JEEZ LOUISE!!! of course i offered NO apology and none was needed- they all laffed their asses off as LAW fans are, um, usually not ones to git in trouble- this was definitely a FIRST fer them to hear about raucous fans...so, was i in the wrong? YES, i take some responsibilty..BUUUUT, u have to understand, actually, TAMPA has to unnerstand that i drove FRIGGN 10 hrs for a DANG 30 minute show & LAW is mah FAVE, ya know? so, i have no regrets..I would and will gladly do the same for Miss THANG also known as Martina as she is mah FAVE as well!!! so, call me what u will, but I had a BLAST at the show and actually quite enjoyed the extra attention...

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I really like George. Would not mind seeing him at all. My concern is also... seats... or how to get good tickets. Guess I am spoiled now... I only want to have excellent floor seats. I will usually pay pretty well to get them. But it's very frustrating when they aren't even available. I like going up to the stage during Independence Day... no I LOVE that. Wonder if we would still be able to do that? When I die and get to Heaven I was hoping that there is a daily playing of Indy Day where you get to charge the stage.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I like Strait and several of his hits -
but never really cared for him in concert
I've seen him in 2000 in Charlotte, because Martina was on the ticket -
and a few years after that.
and yes, with the high ticket prices with essentially two headliners, and the low probability of great seats,
I'll probably be skipping this 'round
it's a win-win if it helps Martina's fan base/exposure -- -

It will be awesome if they come to the east coast of Canada!

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I think that when somebody of his status asks you to join his tour- unless your selling out major stadiums yourself you go on that tour. Actually I think that even Brad, Kenny, and a few others may not hit every city with George but would do a few and be honored to do so..
Besides Martina will play in cool venues like the cowboys stadium on this tour. How can she pass that up? -
Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I like George to listen to but would not buy tickets to see him in concert. I guess I'm in the camp that doesn't feel too good about this. Feels like Martina is opening. Even if she gets a full set probably won't be a tour with production values like the last two. That would be fine with me if the tradeoff was M playing smaller venues this time out. The prospect of not being able to get great seats is disappointing. I'm also worried that the "vibe" won't be as good as at concerts where everyone there is there to see MARTINA. There's much more excitement and connection with the audience and even within the audience. That said, Martina is an amazing performer and I'm sure she'll pull it off...and hopefully, I'll be able to get tickets and not go broke in the process:-)

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I am also not to sure about this and have mixed feelings. I LOVE George (he is my fave male singer) and have seen him many times over the years...BUT, I hope this is not a step back for Martina. Even Reba was an 'opening act' for him. I do hope it is only a few shows here and there and she does tour herself as well. Like was said before, anyone of Martina or Kenny or Brad's caliber would do a few dates with George and be sure to sell out and be awesome, but I Really hope to see M in STL headline her own show. That said, I will be first in line to see this show no matter what!

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
For those who are not attending because they don't care for George, why not just leave when Martina finishes her set? I can think of a number of people she could be touring with who would cause me to get up and leave after her set.
I'm still on the fence with this one. I like George Strait "okay," but once Martina is finished anyone else would be anti-climatic.

True and most likely a very savvy career move. At the height of her popularity and success she was opening for AJ, which lead her to headlining very successful tours for "Timeless" and "WUL."
I think what may be bothering some people is she's been the headliner since "Timeless." The last several tours have been very much Martina's. This has the feel of not really being Martina's show, but rather that she's just opening for someone else.
We shall see and I'm certainly not going to pass up any opportunity to see her.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
When it comes down to it, isn't at least part of the reason you are going to the show is to support Martina's career? If tickets don't get sold, future shows don't happen. I used to get all worked up about getting front row seats, but if I have to fight my way to the front to see, I might as well go for the cheaper seats and have some chance of enjoying myself. Besides, it will give me a chance to dust off the old opera glasses!

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
I don't really care who she is touring with, I will be going if at all possible! I truly believe she will give it her all, just like always. This is a great opportunity to sing with a legend and also a great way to promote her new album!!!

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
It's touring to average audience of 5,000 versus average audience of 10,000 or more.

Some of the venues on the WUL and Shine Tours sold as low as 2,500 or under 50% of the available tickets. During the amphitheater part of her tour in 2008, some of the venues blocked off the lawn and moved those people into the reserved seating because of low ticket sales.
Song catalog wise, Martina is a arena or amphitheater headline act, but ticket sales and fan base wise, she's not a venue sell-out level artists.

Ummmm, I think you had quite a few guesses Miss Amy
If you look back to two weeks before your correct guess you'll find someone suggested that Martina might be opening for other artists
Didn't want to say anything until it was official
You might also see her with other artists as well as George before the Martina tour starts.....
Martina has/had offers from at least two other very well known popular male artists......
We just want to see Martina , but it's great that she's in demand.

Re: Martina/George Strait TOUR 2012
OK, here's my question---is Martina co-touring with George, or is she just opening for him? Martina is a SUPERSTAR, I can't imagine going to a concert where she has to limit the number of songs she's doing...
