Hey Eddie...it's happening again.. in the Main Room and it's every thread I try to open..not one specific thread.

June 8th 10:58 pm central...I'm getting it for every thread in the main room...I was reading one thread not logged in, logged in to catch up on others and can't open anything just in that room.

Daniel, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I have been chasing this bug for so long, it never happens locally. Finally it happened at work, I chased through the code that generates slugs for threads, and FOUND IT. Double slashes will no longer happen. Intermittent bugs are the hardest, especially when we cannot reproduce the problem. This was the cause for the "Thread no longer exists" Thank you so much! I salute you ;)

Hey Vinnie...Glad you finally had it happen at your end and could track it down. Just wondering, what would cause it to happen for some of us over and over and it never happen for others? Or for the most part just in one or two forum rooms?

Hi Pearl,
It had to do with caching of the link, if you visited a category with improperly generated urls it was then cached with the bad links for 3600 seconds. Perhaps the users running into the problem are high traffic users. As a side effect of constantly cruising the boards they may have encountered it more often than a casual user.
So in short...A person cruising a thread will get a cache hit for a period of time after the initial database hit, which could be the reason it felt like the problem was constantly hitting them, and that the entire board they where in was down.

Re: This Thread No Longer Exists
I am getting "this thread no longer exists" for threads here in the site feedback room..the 404 error thread and the Private Message thread that Heidi started.

Re: This Thread No Longer Exists
Blah..there should be 2 replies from me in this thread, but my first one isn't showing up at my end. It says I was the last one to reply but when I click the topic to take me to the newest reply, it's not there.
Anyway, a few more threads in the site feedback room I'm getting 'this thread no longer exists' for, but when I go to copy the link...it doesn't have the thread #, the page # or the post #....the URL stops at /feedback/

Pearl, this is from Matt last evening, "There is a bit of replication lag while an update is being made to the database. Everything will be back to normal as soon as it finishes. " -

Yep..saw that. Find it hard to believe that that is still causing issues today. And that could mean anything really. Is he referring to an update on the backend/development side of things or is he referring to updating as posts and replies are added to the forum? I understand that there can be some lag...but what about the 404 errors and the 'this thread no longer exists' errors.
I'm not being pissy about it, I'm just asking. I only replied to this thread originally and started the 404 error thread so they'd know the errors/issues exist. And just want them to know that the 'this thread no longer exists' error to the URL is different than it was before they fixed it. If no one posts about them they can't be corrected.

Re: This Thread No Longer Exists
This was because of the same annoying replication lag that was happening while the database was being updated. The update has since finished, so this should be resolved. Please let me know if I am wrong
Sorry for the cut and paste response
