Have the changes stopped?

Tue, Oct 13, 2009 at 5:33 PM

Are all the changes that are going to be made already completed? At one time I could respond to friend requests, but I now have 7 I can't access, and also a comment I can't get to. And lots of us have said that the color combination is hard on our eyes, myself included. I'm beginning to wonder if the idea is to discourage those of us who can't be considered "young" anymore and therefore are more likely to have trouble reading the forum as it is. I'm 45, will be 46 in December, and though I'm sure that sounds ancient to a lot of you who are much younger, I like to think I can't yet qualify as "old"! However, for the past few years I've noticed that using the drugstore variety of reading glasses helps, which is normal for somebody my age. But I never needed reading glasses for this site before. I also wonder if the restrictions on certain factors for non- fan-club members is meant to pressure everybody into joining the fan club. Is that what this is all about - discouraging middle-aged and older people, and forcing us to join the fan club? That's what it looks like, now that the changes appear to have stopped, and the fact that at one time I could respond to friend requests and now I can't. So, those in charge, what's happening?

(Are the changes to be made already completed) ? HaHa Good one. This new baby site in conjunction with the Trace Add Kins touring event is currently Far from becoming potty trained. :) Just look at the big diaper change they encountered on the 1st FC PreSale.....I'm sure they have alot of changes in the works here in the forum section also that is just gonna take time, people.

I was thinking the exact same thing Paula.Instead of fixings things they seem to be going backwards lately.
And we're not getting any responses to our questions lately either!

Glad to know I'm not alone, Pamela! I was afraid I might have made people mad with my post last night but I believe I asked some legitimate questions and have raised some valid issues. I am willing to be patient but when it appears that nothing is changing and in fact has gotten more difficult, I have to wonder.

    Hi there,
It will be interesting to see what response you get - if and when you get a reply!
I have also raised several points on the "Friend Requests Problem" thread - whether they'll take any notice or not though, remains to be seen. Surely they won't discriminate against those of us on here who left their teens and twenties behind a fair few years ago - after all, isn't Martina herself 43 now? I'm more concerned that we are being discriminated against because we are not Fan Club members. All we want is to be able to socially interact fully in the Forum just as we did in Martinaville.
Let's hope the powers-that-be make it happen soon!

Well I hope that the friend request/PM issue gets resolved soon, because I have a couple of buddies here who are not fan club members and it's driving us nuts that we can't PM each other!

There are also some other issues that people mentioned (like marking threads which have new replies, going straight to the first unread post etc.) and I hope those requests are going to be taken into consideration. It's really difficult to move around the forum without some of those features!

I can't see to read and navigate the site. I have brand new glasses and can see everything else I need to do, but not here. Turn the lights out in the computer room and highlight things just to be able to read the fine text. Navigation used to be easier like you all mentioned. Just logging in for the first time was difficult. Next the ticket purchasing issues.

I frequent my favorite Truck driver's web site and it is much easier to read and doesn't make my eyes get strained. It has a black background also and wasn't complicated to log in when they change the site from time to time over the years.

They have a whole list of changes guys and I know Martina's web site is not their only job they do. We need to exercise some patience. Things will all work out in time. There are only a handful of them and thousands of us. It's gotta be difficult and long hours. Don't lose faith!! :-)

yes but it has been 5 days now and nobody has responded to let us know if they are even aware of the problems and to let us know they will fix it!!! it is kinda getting frustrating and discouraging when you dont want to come here anymore cause you really dont want to fight with the glitches and stuff!

The changes have NOT stopped, in fact you will be pleased to know the changes will never stop. We are aware of the "glitches" some easier to fix then others, some more dire then others. The avatar / friend request issue being one of the higher on the list. We have tried to respond to your feedback as quickly as possible (adding the white background to the forum replies for instance, adding signatures into forums). Some of the changes are in the works but take quite a bit longer to develop, but if you can hang in there with us you will continue to see changes over time.

The font color in the Fans section dropdowns....thanks for changing that. The light gray on white was super hard to read.

I'm starting to think that GC has finally abandoned this website because the work to maintain and fix it got to be to much.

Am I right in thinking that GC said that they would be changing servers (or something along those lines) during the Christmas and New Year break? I can't find where I originally read about it now but I'm sure it's on a thread somewhere. I don't think I dreamt it, anyway! I'm sure they said that in the New Year we would see an improvement in things because of this upcoming changeover. Perhaps someone from GC can confirm this for us.

I was just wondering the same thing. I know they said it. Which I found an odd time to do it, since normally, that's when more people are online and traffic should have been up on the site, and when there are fewer people-in-the-know around to fix things when they go kablooie. Not that they seem terribly interested in fixing things anyway.

Of course, they say a lot of things that never happen, or don't happen when they say they will.

In all fairness..I have noticed a few "changes" they've done...like post the FC vs. non-FC list...along with a few other things.

    Hi!

We have been making changes non stop. A lot of the changes you don't see because they are on the backend, commerct, etc. Keep coming up with ideas and we will keep working on them :)

Hope everyone had a nice holiday break!

I think probably too, that if you need help with something, phoning GC might be best.
Tee Cee told me to forward my questions regarding a clothing item to them, and I did and this was like a day or two after Christmas and I still havent heard from them. I know they are busy, but I'm confused because I wasnt complaining, or asking about the site, it was just measurements of a sweater that I am all set and wanting to purchase.

I'm not mad at all, I just think that it would be better for people that want to purchase stuff, that they should get responses to something easy like that because some may get impatient, forget or whatever and it will only hurt Martinas merchandise sales.

    Just my thoughts.

In line with what Eddie just said, a lot of the recent updates (and a number of upcoming ones) are "under the hood" so they aren't necessarily noticeable right away. Over the next month or so, you should be noticing some overall speed improvements. This will be most noticeable around the times of presales and other large announcements. Other updates are slight modifications and/or enhancements to existing features, both frontend and behind-the-scenes.

Your input is still very valuable to us, as we want this to be the best site possible for you all!
