Surprise! Conan O'Brien to TBS
Well this is a bit of a surprise. Conan O'Brien, he who was unceremoniously dumped by NBC, has found a new home at TBS, says The Hollywood Reporter. The lanky redhead was thought to be near a deal for a late-night talk show with Fox, but problems with Fox affiliates stymied the agreement.
Conan's new late-night show will debut in November after the World Series, when he'll take over the 11 o'clock slot Monday through Thursday. TBS will bump George Lopez and Lopez Tonight back to midnight, creating a formidable late-night twosome on the network that was formerly known for the Atlanta Braves and reruns. Of course Lopez is excited about the deal, as it will bring more attention to his own show.
"In three months I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I'm headed to basic cable," said O'Brien. "My plan is working perfectly."
Here's hoping that a move to TBS can bring back the Conan of old, the pre-Tonight Show Conan with the eccentric sense of humor and wacky skits. Heck, on TBS he may even be able to drop a few curse words now and then.
Leno, Letterman, Kimmel, Fallon, Ferguson, Lopez, and now O'Brien again. That's a whole lotta late-nightness to flip through.

RE: Surprise! Conan O'Brien to TBS
He'll go head-to-head against Jay Leno and David Letterman: O'Brien's show will air at 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, premiering after the World Series this November. George Lopez's Lopez Tonight will bump to midnight to accommodate O'Brien. http://www.usmagazine.com/moviestvmusic/news/conan-obrien-announces-new-tv-show-2010124
O'Brien stepped down from the Tonight Show in January after NBC revealed they would push it back to 12:05 a.m. so Leno could return to the coveted 11:35 p.m. slot.
Irony? Hypocrisy?
If I ran away, I'd never have the strength
To go very far
How would they hear the beating of my heart
Will it grow cold
The secret that I hide, will I grow old
How will they hear
When will they learn

RE: Surprise! Conan O'Brien to TBS
Mr. Polone said he went to Mr. O’Brien to inform him of the TBS offer. “Conan said, ‘We’re not putting ourselves in the position of shoving somebody out of his show.’ ” That blocked the potential deal for a brief time.
But that position changed after another phone call. Mr. Polone said that Mr. Lopez himself called Mr. O’Brien personally. “George called Conan to sell Conan on this idea. He was all for it. It really was George who made this happen.”

Good for Conan. He was completely screwed over so I'm glad he got a show again. He's awesome. (His tweets are hilarious!)
